Strigogoniatites was named by Spath (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Glyphioceras angulatum.
It was assigned to Pseudogastrioceratidae by Leonova (2002); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pseudogastrioceratinae by Korn (2006), Furnish et al. (2009), Korn et al. (2016).
