Taxonomy
Uddenites was named by Böse (1919) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-u Sepkoski's reference number: 304,1251]. Its type is Uddenites schucherti. It is the type genus of Uddenitidae, Uddenitinae.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Uddenitidae by Korn (2006); and to Uddenitinae by Furnish et al. (2009), Leonova (2019).
