Amarassites was named by Welter (1914) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Haloritidae by Spath (1951); to Haloritinae by Tatzreiter (1981), Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
