Beneckeia was named by von Mojsisovics (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Tr Anis-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Ammonites (Ceratites) buchi.

| F. Siegel et al. 2022 | Juveniles up to a size of ca. 5 mm moderately involute and more depressed than compressed, constrictions can occur. With increasing size and shift towards an involute and highly oxycone conch with a funnellike umbilicus, first a keel and then an acute venter develops. Adults show a late egressive coiling in the last whorl. Broad flexuose ribs can occur on the body chamber. The undenticulated suture line with simple elements shows E and L and a number of up to 3–9 auxiliary lobes. Adventituos elements can occur. |
