Cassis coronadoi was named by Crosse (1867) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is MNHN 4147, a shell.

It was recombined as Galeodea coronadoi by Dall (1889); it was recombined as Bathygalea (Bathygalea) coronadoi by Woodring and Olsson (1957); it was recombined as Bathygalea coronadoi by Woodring and Olsson (1957); it was recombined as Phalium coronadoi by Porter (1974); it was recombined as Echinophoria coronadoi by Beu (2008), Beu (2010).
