Nevadotheca excellens
Taxonomy
Hyolithes excellens was named by Billings (1872). Its type specimen is USNM 390621, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Red Limestone, Smith’s Sound, which is in a Branchian carbonate limestone in the Brigus Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Nevadotheca excellens by Malinky (1990).
