Hyolithes cariniferus
Taxonomy
Hyolithes cariniferus was named by Resser and Endo (1937) [COMMENTS: Poor preservation of type specimens for this species renders it's diagnosis incomplete and it's generic identifications doubtful. TAPHONOMY: This species is represented by numerous impres- sions of randomly oriented conchs on a bedding surface in shale. Without exception all lack even the most elementary morphologic features such as the ligula and operculum.]. Its type specimen is USNM 86723-A, a shell, and it is an impression.
