Hyolithes kuantungensis was named by Resser and Endo (1937) [COMMENTS: Morphology of the type does not suggest affinity to Hyolitha. Better preserved specimens may show that this species should be excluded completely from the Hyolitha. TAPHONOMY: The type lot of this species consists of six fragmentary external molds of nondescript tube.]. Its type specimen is USNM 86714, a shell, and it is a mold.
