Taxonomy
Microphon exiguus was named by Ivakhnenko (1983). Its type specimen is PIN 3583/31 (also cited as 3585/31), a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Donguz-6, PIN 3585, which is in a Severodvinian fluvial-lacustrine claystone/limestone in the Malokinelskaya Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Microphon.

  • Raphanodon tverdohlebovae was named by Ivakhnenko (1987). Its type specimen is PIN 3585/25, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Donguz-6, PIN 3585, which is in a Severodvinian fluvial-lacustrine claystone/limestone in the Malokinelskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Microphon exiguus by Bulanov (2003).
