Taxonomy
Hauerites was named by Mojsisovics (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Ammonites rarestriatus.

It was assigned to Dinaritidae by von Mojsisovics (1896); to Cyrtopleuritidae by Spath (1951), Tozer (1981); to Cyrtopleuritinae by Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
