Pamphagosirenites was named by Popov (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Ammonites pamphagus.

It was assigned to Sirenitinae by Tozer (1981), Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
