Polymeres demetarum

Taxonomy
Polymeres demetarum was named by Murchison (1839). Its type specimen is BGS Geol. Soc. Coll. 6960, a partial shell (phragmocone), and it is a cast. Its type locality is Road cut at Roman Rd., Pensarn, which is in a Moridunian offshore mudstone in the Ogof Hen Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Polymeres.

Synonyms
  • Orthoceras eoum was named by Blake (1882). Its type specimen is BGS GSM 37526 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Lords Hill, which is in a Moridunian coastal siltstone/siltstone in the Mytton Flags Formation of the United Kingdom.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Polymeres demetarum by Evans (2005).
