Taxonomy
Spirorbis permianus was named by King (1850). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Byers Quarry, Marsden, Durham, which is in a Wuchiapingian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Ford Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was synonymized subjectively with Serpula planorbites by Geinitz (1861).
