Pseudodanubites was named by Hyatt (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Danubites dritarashtra.

It was assigned to Japonites by Hyatt (1900), Diener (1907); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Danubitidae by Spath (1951), Tozer (1981), Ji and Bucher (2018).
