Pseudosirenites was named by Arthaber (1911) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Tr Nori-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302].

It was assigned to Trachyceratidae by Spath (1951); to Cyrtopleuritidae by Tatzreiter (1981); to Sirenitinae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
