Taxonomy
Mammites depressus was named by Powell (1963). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cannonball Hill, which is in a Turonian marine limestone in the Ojinaga Formation of Mexico.
It was recombined as Morrowites depressus by Cobban and Hook (1983) and Kennedy and Cobban (1988).
