Subcolumbites was named by Spath (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Paranannitidae by Spath (1934), Kummel (1969); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Paragoceratidae by Guex et al. (2010); and to Columbitidae by Tozer (1981), Ehiro et al. (2016).
