Yonghesuchus sangbiensis

Taxonomy
Yonghesuchus sangbiensis was named by Wu et al. (2001). Its type specimen is IVPP V 12378, a partial skull (Incomplete skull with mandible occluded), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is north bank of Sangbi Creek, which is in a Ladinian/Carnian terrestrial sandstone in the Tongchuan Formation of China.

Wu et al. 2001Small the meduim-sized arhocsauriform differing from other known taxa in having the following combination of apomorphies: 1) anterior end of snout sharply pointed; 2) a concavity in antorbital fossa; 3) region between antorbital fossa and external naris broad; 4) posterior two thirds of descending process of postorbital broadly and deeply concave; 5) two fossae on ventral surface of basispshenoid; 6) dentary with a posterodorsal process remarkably long relative to those of other archosauriforms; and 7) retroarticular region of articular having a pronounced dorsal ridge, a penetrated wing-like medial process, and a sharply pointed posteromedial process directed anteromedially and dorsally.
