Olcostephanus (Astieria) deansi was named by Whiteaves (1893). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Leconteites deansii by Imlay (1959); it was recombined as Leconteites deansi by Imlay (1960), Jones et al. (1965), Alabushev (1995).
