Calaiceras was named by Kovács (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-u]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Phylloceras (Calaiceras) by Blau and Meister (1991).

It was assigned to Phylloceras by Blau and Meister (1991); to Phylloceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phylloceratinae by Géczy and Meister (1998), Meister and Friebe (2003).
