Taxonomy
Akera bolivarensis was named by Anderson (1928). Its type specimen is CAS 2687, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is El Carmen, 6 mi. W of (Horizon F), which is in a Bartonian coastal shale/sandstone in Colombia.
