Taxonomy
Prionotropis hyatti was named by Stanton (1894). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Collignoniceras hyatti by Cobban (1951); it was recombined as Prionocyclus hyatti by Powell (1963), Kennedy and Cobban (1988), Kennedy et al. (2001), Sealey and Lucas (2011), Amédro et al. (2016), Sealey and Lucas (2019).
