Taxonomy
Productus intermedius helicus was named by Abich (1878) [As Productus intermedius helicus]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Araxes Gorge, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in Azerbaijan.
It was recombined as Marginifera helica by Diener (1903), Diener (1915), Reed (1944); it was recombined as Productus (Marginifera) helicus by Licharew (1937); it was recombined as Spinomarginifera intermedia helica by Schréter (1963); it was recombined as Spinomarginifera helica by Fantini Sestini (1965), Sarycheva (1965), Fantini Sestini and Glaus (1966), Termier et al. (1974), Licharew and Kotlyar (1978), Angiolini and Carabelli (2010), Verna and Angiolini (2011), Yousefirad et al. (2013), Garbelli and Angiolini (2014), Ghaderi et al. (2015).
