Taxonomy

Alocolytoceras was named by Hyatt (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: J Toar-l J Toar-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Alocolytoceratinae by Bourillot et al. (2008), Hoffmann (2010), Galácz and Kassai (2012).

Synonyms

Aegolytoceras is a genus. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Alocolytoceras by Hoffmann (2010).

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Holcolytoceratidae by Venturi et al. (2005).
Peripleuroceras was named by Tutcher and Trueman (1925).

It was synonymized subjectively with Aegolytoceras by Donovan and Howarth (1982).
