Taxonomy
Rhytidoceras elegans was named by van Hoepen (1931). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Prohysteroceras elegans by Förster (1975); it was recombined as Dipoloceras (Rhytidoceras) elegans by Bulot et al. (2005).
