Taxonomy
Turrilites puzosianus was named by d'Orbigny (1842). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Ostlingoceras, Ostlingoceras (Ostlingoceras).

It was recombined as Ostlingoceras (Ostlingoceras) puzosianum by Atabekyan (1985) and Kennedy and Latil (2007); it was recombined as Ostlingoceras (Ostlingoceras) puzosianus by Kennedy and Cobban (1993); it was recombined as Ostlingoceras puzosianum by Hyatt (1900), Arkadiev et al. (2000) and Szives (2007).
