Taxonomy
Tripteroceras cariniferum was named by Flower (1952). Its type specimen is USNM 59576, a partial shell, and it is a cast. Its type locality is Watertown, Chaumont Lmst., which is in a Turinian shallow subtidal wackestone/lime mudstone in the Chaumont Formation of New York.
