Taxonomy
Mitrella phyllisae was named by Duerr (2008). Its type specimen is UF 110656, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Farley Creek [Chipola Fm], which is in a Burdigalian marine sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
