Taxonomy
Cirroceras was named by Conrad (1866) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. Its type is Ammonoceratites conradi.

It was assigned to Baculitidae by Klinger (1985); to Nostoceratidae by Kennedy et al. (2000), Kennedy et al. (2000); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
