Taxonomy

Villania was named by Till (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-l J Call]. It is not extant. Its type is Villania densilobata.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phricodoceratidae by Howarth (2013).

Synonyms

Coeloderoceras was named by Spath (1923) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-l]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Villania by Howarth (2013).

It was assigned to Xipheroceratinae by Bremer (1965); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
Epideroceras was named by Spath (1923) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-u J Plie-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Villania by Howarth (2013).

It was assigned to Xipheroceratinae by Bremer (1965); to Phricodoceratidae by Blau (1998); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Epideroceratidae by Meister and Friebe (2003).
Omoderoceras was named by Venturi et al. (2004).

It was synonymized subjectively with Villania by Howarth (2013).
