Ampullaria perovata was named by Conrad (1846). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pachycrommium perovatum by Woodring (1928); it was recombined as Amauropsis perovata by Anderson (1928); it was recombined as Crommium perovatum by Hendy et al. (2008).
