Taxonomy
Allumettoceras courtownense was named by Evans (1994). Its type specimen is GSI F080103, a partial shell (partial phragmocone), and it is a cast. Its type locality is 700m NNE of Ballymoney Strand, which is in a Llandeilo marginal marine sandstone in the Courtown Formation of Ireland.
