Taxonomy
Orthoceras breviconum was named by Portlock (1843). It is not extant. Its type specimen is GSM 103467, a shell. Its type locality is Killey Bridge Fm. locality 1, NE of Pomeroy, which is in a Richmondian offshore mudstone/siltstone in the Killey Bridge Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Diestoceras breviconum by Evans (1993).
