Parahoplites (Dufrenoyia) was named by Kilian and Reboul (1915) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti-l K Apti-u original rank, spelling, attribution, and type species are definitely Parahoplites (Dufrenoyia), Kilian and Reboul 1915 (attributed by them but not later authors to Burckhardt), and Ammonites furcatus Sowerby (e.g., see Scott 1940, pp. 1021-1022 and Bogdanova and Mikhailova, pp. 217-219)]. Its type is Ammonites dufrenoyi.

It was misspelled as Dufrenoya by Sepkoski (2002); it was reranked as Dufrenoyia by Casey (1980), Renz (1982), Szives (2007), Barragán and Maurrasse (2008).

It was assigned to Parahoplites by Kilian and Reboul (1915); to Ammonoidea by Casey (1980); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Deshayesitinae by Stoyanow (1949), Renz (1982), Szives (2007), Barragán and Maurrasse (2008).
