Taxonomy
Psephoaster apokryphos was named by McNamara (1987). Its type specimen is NMV P100506, a test, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Jan Juc Formation, which is in an Oligocene coastal siliciclastic in the Jan Juc Formation of Australia.
