Ficheuria was named by Pervinquiére (1910) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-u K Ceno-l]. Its type is Ficheuria kiliani.

It was assigned to Flickiidae by Wright and Kennedy (1979), Young (1979); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Flickiinae by Wright et al. (1996), Szives (2007).
