Taxonomy
Abrekites editus was named by Shigeta and Zakharov (2009). Its type specimen is NSM PM23193 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Abrek Bay AB1021, which is in a Smithian submarine fan mudstone in the Zhitkov Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Abrekites.
