Taxonomy
Elonichthys cupidineus was named by Lambe (1916). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Railway cutting west of Massive, which is in a Smithian marine sandstone in the Spray River Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Albertonia cupidinia by Gardiner (1966) and Schaeffer and Mangus (1976).
