Taxonomy
Larolepis darbyi was named by Sansom and Elliott (2002). Its type specimen is BIRUG 3686, a dermal scale, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Joseph's Island [Gull River Fm], which is in a Franklinian marine limestone/shale in the Gull River Formation of Canada.
