It was assigned to Leptonectoidea by McGowan and Motani (2003); to Ichthyosauria by Maisch and Reisdorf (2006); to Temnodontosauroidea by Ji et al. (2016); and to Neoichthyosauria by Maisch and Matzke (2000), Maisch (2010), Moon (2017), Lomax (2017) and Moon (2019).
