Taxonomy
Karsteniceras was named by Royo-Gomez (1945) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr-l K Barr-u]. Its type is Ancyloceras beyrichii.

It was assigned to Leptoceratinae by Manolov (1962); to Ancyloceratidae by Kakabadze and Hoedemaeker (1997); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Leptoceratoididae by Klein et al. (2007).
