Lilloettia was named by Crickmay (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath-u J Call-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302].

It was reranked as Eurycephalites (Lilloettia) by Westermann (1984).

It was assigned to Macrocephalitidae by Imlay (1953), Arkell et al. (1957); to Eurycephalites by Westermann (1984); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eurycephalitinae by Arthur et al. (1993), Parent (1998), Poulton and Hall (2019).
