Taxonomy
Monotis hawni was named by Meek and Hayden (1858). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Smoky Hill Fork, Kansas River, which is in an Artinskian marine limestone in the Herington Formation of Kansas.
It was recombined as Pseudomonotis hawni by Newell (1938) and Clifton (1942).
