Taxonomy

Morphoceras is a genus. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Morphoceratidae by Arkell et al. (1957), Besnosov and Mitta (1993), Zatoń (2010), Dietze et al. (2014), Majidifard (2015), Seyed-Emami et al. (2018).

M. egrediens, M. kelarizis, M. macrescens, M. multiforme (syn. Ammonites polymorphus, Ammonites polymorphus lineatus), M. parvum, M. patescens, M. subpatescens, M. thalmanni

Synonyms

Patemorphoceras was named by Buckman (1922).

It was synonymized subjectively with Morphoceras by Besnosov and Mitta (1993), Dietze et al. (2014).
