Pseudovendia charnwoodensis was named by Boynton and Ford (1979). Its type specimen is No 6456/1978 and is an impression. Its type locality is New arthropod, Maplewell Series, Leicestershire, - Boynton and Ford 1979, which is in an Ediacaran marine mudstone in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Pseudovendia.
