Peltolytoceras was named by Spath (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Ectocentrites giordanii.
It was assigned to Analytoceratidae by Wiedmann (1970); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ectocentritinae by Hoffmann (2010).
