Elaphe kansensis
Taxonomy
Palaeoelaphe kansensis was named by Gilmore (1938). Its type specimen is USNM 13500, a set of vertebrae, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Long Island Quarry, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Ogallala Formation of Kansas.
It was recombined as Elaphe kansensis by Brattstrom (1967), Rage (1984).
