Chirotherium swinnertoni
Taxonomy
Otozoum swinnertoni was named by Sarjeant (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is PC4238, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Mapperley Park tracksite, which is in an Anisian terrestrial sandstone in the Keuper Waterstones Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Paratetrasauropus swinnertoni by Sarjeant (1996); it was recombined as Chirotherium swinnertoni by D'Orazi Porchetti and Nicosia (2007).

W. A. S. Sarjeant 1970 | Pes, considered to be of a bipedal reptile. Plantigrade, with the digits and front and hind parts of the sole deeply impressed, the central part of the sole not being impressed. Four digits (I-IV) are represented, the first being reduced. The fifth digit is not impressed (either non-functional or lacking). The digits are not markedly divergent; the phalangeal pads are poorly marked and the claws are not very acute. |
