Taxonomy
Thomelites was named by Juignet et al. (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-u Wright & Kennedy in Juignet, Kennedy & Wright 1973]. Its type is Jeanrogericeras sornayi.

It was assigned to Acanthoceratinae by Meister et al. (1992), Meister et al. (1994) and Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
