Taxonomy
Hindsia wheeleri was named by Pilsbry and Olsson (1941). Its type specimen is ANSP 14483, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zone H - Canoa Formation, which is in a Piacenzian coastal claystone in the Canoa Formation of Ecuador.
It was recombined as Trajana (Trajana) wheeleri by Vokes (1969).
